Kaolin Clay Skin Benefits

Georgia
Australian kaolin clay is a gentle and versatile clay that offers a myriad of skincare benefits. Extracted from the mineral-rich regions of the earth, this fine powder is renowned for its purifying, exfoliating, and soothing properties. When applied to the skin, kaolin clay works its magic by cleansing the pores, absorbing excess oil and promoting a radiant complexion.

Purifies the Skin:

Environmental pollutants can take a toll on the health and wellbeing of our skin.
Kaolin clay , with its gentle detoxifying properties, helps to draw out excess dirt and debris, leaving the skin feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

Balances Oil Production:

For those with oily or combination skin, kaolin clay can help to restore harmony by absorbing excess oils. The skin will often produce excess oil when it is overcompensating, often due to harsh cleansing and exfoliating practices. Kaolin clay is a great option in these cases as it will absorb excess oil in a gentle way that doesn't completely strip the skin and compromise it's barrier.

Soothes and Calms Irritated Skin:

If you experience sensitive or irritated skin, kaolin clay offers a gentle and soothing solution to alleviate redness and discomfort. There are many cosmetic clays available, but in my experience kaolin is the best choice for those who are more prone to sensitivites.

Exfoliates and Brightens the Skin:

While the skin has it's own natural version of exfoliation (called desquamation), kaolin clay can help to gently enhance this process of promoting cell turnover, revealing a fresh and radiant complexion.

How to Incorporate Kaolin Clay into Your Skincare Routine

Kaolin clay has always been a staple ingredient in my skin food pantry.
It can be used in many ways on the face and body, and mixed with other skin nourishing ingredients such as herbs, hydrosols, tea, honey and more.

To create a simple face mask, mix the clay with water until you reach a creamy consistency.
Apply a thin layer to your face and neck, and let it work its magic for about 10-15 minutes before rinsing off. Repeat this ritual once or twice a week to unveil the transformative effects on your skin.
I also like to use kaolin clay as a cleanser, by following the above directions but instead of leaving it on as a mask, simply rinse off as you would any other cleanser.

For added benefits, you can experiment with other skin food ingredients such as...

Honey: Great for all skin types and conditions

Eucalyptus Hydrosol: Great for many skin concerns especially blemishes and oiliness

Chamomile Tea or Hydrosol: Helps to further calm the skin and reduce redness and irritation

Rose Hydrosol: Wonderful for adding cooling, tightening, brightening and hydrating properties

Peppermint Tea: Helps to cool, calm and refresh the skin

Kunzea Hydrosol: Beneficial for all skin conditions especially itchy and irritated and skin

Full Fat Yoghurt: Cooling, brightening, nourishing and gently exfoliating

As always, feel free to post any questions below and let us know if you've experimented with kaolin clay.

Thanks for reading :)
